Indian Bridge Management System (IBMS)
The Indian Bridge Management System (IBMS) is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), Government of India, established to create a comprehensive and centralized platform for the inventory, inspection, assessment, monitoring, and maintenance of bridges and related structures across the country.
IBMS serves as a technology-driven decision support system that enables bridge-owning agencies and stakeholders to systematically manage bridge assets, evaluate structural conditions, prioritize maintenance requirements, and enhance public safety through data-driven planning and timely interventions.
By integrating modern technologies such as GIS mapping, mobile-based field data collection, cloud infrastructure, and advanced analytics, IBMS provides real-time access to bridge information and supports efficient infrastructure management throughout the lifecycle of bridge assets.
The system aims to strengthen India's transportation infrastructure by promoting safety, sustainability, transparency, and effective asset management practices, ensuring the long-term serviceability and resilience of bridges nationwide.
